Dear Love,
Finishing is something I've seen many of us struggle with. When you start something, you often find yourself looking at how far you have to go to achieve something great, and that length of time it takes to see the evolution can often make us quit before we've truly planted and nourished the seed.
Fear often keeps us from doing the very thing God trusts us with. In Matthew 25:14–30, Jesus tells the Parable of the Talents.
In this parable, a master trusted his servants with different amounts according to their ability: one with five talents, one with two talents, and another servant with one talent. The servants with five and two put what they received to work and multiplied it. They were fruitful. The servant with one talent buried it out of fear.
Sometimes we bury our dreams, ideas, and gifts because we are afraid to fail. Our anxiety can be so crippling that we never even start. However, I pray that we always remember where our power comes from.
Philippians 4:13 says:
“I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.”
I pray we all learn to lean on God when we are creating something and trust that He has a plan for our lives. He wouldn't give us something if He didn't think we could handle it.
Also, sometimes we bite off more than we can chew. We can start something and try to achieve seven years of progress in month one. While I do believe all things are possible with God, sometimes we need time to develop into the person God can trust with that amount of success.
So, starting small and being faithful to what God has already entrusted you with can be a great start.
In Zechariah 4:10, it says, “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin.”
Here, God is talking about the rebuilding of the temple. He didn't want Zechariah to think the work they were doing wasn't as significant as what they had before.
He didn't want them to misjudge their future based on their small beginning.
Have you ever judged yourself or a project too early? Have you ever looked at something, had a bit of self-doubt, and said, “No one will truly care about this”? Have you ever compared yourself to the people around you or the people who came before you and thought you could never amount to what they've done?
Well, that's why God called you. He already had them. He called you for a reason.
You can't tell God who to call and who not to call.
God does not call the qualified; He qualifies the called.
So, if He called you, you better believe He will qualify you. You just have to show up and place everything in His hands.
Take all of your worries, fears, and insecurities to God today. Tell Him everything. Be honest about everything, and ask Him to simply make the first step—the small beginning—plain. Ask Him what He wants you to do, and go from there.
Don't quit before you get started.
Don't give up on yourself or the dreams God placed in your heart.
I'm proud of you already.
Don't Forget Your Prayers.
All My Love,
Lisa Ford
